Migration is emerging as a major challenge in Rajasmand. Migration of young men is leading to economic disparity, exploitation of the young men at destination, and several other risks like HIV/AIDS. Jatan Sansthan has been designated by the State Employment and Migration Bureau as the bureau for Railmagra block of Rajasmand district. Jatan Sansthan undertakes regular registration of migrants, especially the young migrants, provides them with counseling and support at destination and supports rehabilitation on their return to villages. Large numbers of people from the rural areas of South Rajasthan migrate to adjoining states in search of livelihood. Recognising this, Jatan established a Migrant Support & Resource Centre at Railmagra block in 2006. This centre undertakes regular registration of migrants providing them with a range of support services at source as well as destination. These include provision of a photo identity card, short term vocational training programmes, placement opportunities and counselling on legal and career related issues. The centre tries to identify migrant youth and build their capacity so that they can better deal with the various problems they face during migration.
