Parents+
Parents+ Program – Jatan Sansthan
The Parents+ Program is a focused initiative by Jatan Sansthan (in collaboration with VLF) aimed at strengthening the role of parents—especially mothers and fathers—in the early learning and overall development of young children. Recognizing that parents are a child’s first and most influential teachers, the program works to enhance parenting skills, build awareness around child nutrition, health, emotional well-being, and create responsive caregiving environments at home.
Through structured coaching sessions, home visits, and interactive community meetings, the program supports parents of children (0–6 years) in:
-
Understanding age-appropriate child development milestones.
-
Adopting playful learning and storytelling practices at home.
-
Promoting gender-equitable caregiving roles for both mothers and fathers.
-
Addressing nutrition, hygiene, and emotional bonding for better school readiness.
-
Strengthening linkages between parents and Anganwadi workers, ECCE providers, and frontline health workers.
The program also leverages digital tools (like WhatsApp groups, audio-visual content, and monthly parenting booklets) to ensure ongoing engagement. Fathers’ participation is a special focus area—encouraging their active involvement in early childhood care, breaking traditional gender norms.
Parents+ complements Jatan’s broader work in early childhood care and education (ECCE), ensuring that families are not just recipients but active partners in a child’s learning journey.
