

The Nandghar Project, an initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, is designed to transform traditional Anganwadi Centers under the Department of Women and Child Development into modern, child-friendly, and community-driven hubs. Currently operational across 14 states in India, the program is being implemented in Rajasthan by Jatan Sansthan, covering 500 Nandghars across Jaipur, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Shahpura, Sarada, and Rajsamand districts.
Core Focus
The project seeks to strengthen the delivery of six critical services under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS):
- Nutritional Support – Ensuring regular supply of safe and nutritious meals for children and mothers.
- Digital Pre-School Education – Introducing interactive, technology-enabled learning for early childhood development.
- Primary Healthcare & Referral Services – Providing essential maternal and child healthcare, including timely referrals.
- Community Participation – Building awareness and fostering engagement to encourage healthier practices within communities.
- Government Scheme Linkages – Connecting families with relevant social protection and welfare programs.
- Skill Development & Livelihood Opportunities – Offering vocational training and employment linkages to empower local communities.
Project Objectives
- Improve maternal and child health outcomes, focusing on healthcare services, early childhood education (0–6 years), and family well-being including family planning.
- Deliver comprehensive early childhood education, healthcare, and nutrition counseling through Nandghars.
- Enhance community awareness to promote positive health, hygiene, and nutrition behaviors.
